THE CIVIL WAR MUSEUM
AND THE 21st CENTURY

Presented by: Brett Lobello

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER

Brett Lobello is the Curator of Education at the Civil War Museum, a part of the Kenosha Public Museums located in Wisconsin. He double majored in Psychology and History at Carroll College and earned a masterís degree in History and a Museum Studies Certificate from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Brett is a Wisconsin Federation of Museums Board Member and a member of the American Association for State and Local History and the American Alliance of Museum's professional Education Committee. He recently completed the Developing History Leaders program at the Seminar for Historical Administration. He is a member of the American Association for State and Local History and the American Alliance of Museumís professional Education Committees. As a WFM board member, Brett is responsible for overseeing the annual conference.

ABOUT THE TOPIC

The Civil War Museum focuses on the stories of people of the Upper Middle West during the Civil War Era. Historians agree the Civil War was a turning point in American History. But 150 years later it is hard for 21st Century Americans to imagine what the nation was like during that era. This presentation focuses on how the Civil War Museum makes connections with today's museum visitor. The Museum's visitors are certain (and correct) that no battles took place in Wisconsin or Illinois. They also expect information on demand and an educational and entertaining experience.
