Adams Co., IN Genealogical Society
The Adams County Indiana Genealogical Society meets the second Monday evening of the month at 7:00. The meeting place alternates between the Decatur, Berne and Geneva Public Libraries, or the location of the project that the society is presently working on (for instance cemetery reading, or working in the Archive at the Law Enforcement Center).
Membership dues are $10.00 for individuals, or $15.00 for families living in the same household. Membership runs from January through December, with members receiving newsletters throughout the year.

The ACIGS, through an Indiana Heritage Research Grant, has produced a five volume set entitled The Adams County Indiana Death Records Index (ACIDRI). Using scrapbooks, church records, funeral home records, and newspapers, the statistics on over 20,000 individuals is given. Fields in the database include birth and death, maiden name, spouse or parent, residence, cause of death, place of death, cemetery, cemetery location, military involvement, other information given and finally the source of this information. Copies of these books are available at the Decatur, Berne and Geneva Public Libraries, Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, and the State Library in Indianapolis.
