James Minor Barn Burns
James MINOR's barn, one mile east of Max, was
destroyed by fire early Thursday of last week together with
all its contents, including about two hundred bushels of
corn, five tons of clover hay, fourteen tons of shredded
fodder, a carriage, threshing machine, corn sheller, several
plows, a feed cutter, carpenter's tools, a binder, a hay
rake, harness and a number of minor articles. The barn was
insured in Boone Co. Farmers' Cooperative Insurance Co. for
$250 and the contents for $500. Mr. MINOR estimates the
value of contents destroyed at $447.75.
The fire is suppose to have originated from a lightened
lantern which Mr. MINOR had hung up in the barn while he
harnessed the horses. The fire was not discovered until Mr.
MINOR had been away from the barn some little time.
