IN MEMORIAM - Wilfried VANDEVYVERE - Dankzij Frans verghote (vroeger wonende te Delhi, Ontario) kregen we er kennis van dat Wilfried VANDEVYVERE op 2 Januari 2007 overleed te Orlata, California.  Wilfried Vandevyvere werd geboren te WOUMEN (nabij DIKSMUIDE) op 3 augustus 1930 en vertrok met de boot op 15 april 1954 (op witte Donderdag) naar CANADA.  In het jaar 1956 kwam hij terug naar Belgie om er op 26 april te huwen met Elisabeth Vandevijvere afkomstig van DIKSMUIDE (dochter van Omer Vandevijvere, een landbouwer died in Diksmuide een hoeve had in de Ijzerlaan (nabij de garage VOET). Gans de familie van Omer Vandevijvere trok in 1958 ook naar CANADA.  Wilfried Vandevyvere en zijn vrouw Elisabeth Vandevijvere hadden 2 dochters: Grace Vandevyvere, geboren op 15 mei 1957, en Gloria Vandevyvere, geboren op 17 september 1964. Beiden women nog in Ontario, Canada.  Wilfried  werkte vele jaren in de tabak in de omgeving van Tillsonburg-Delhi, maar na zijn scheiding van zijn echtgenote trok hij in oktober van 1964 naar de USA. Hij werkte et in een grote indusriele bakkerij als 'Ornamental Cake Decorator'. Deze industriele bakkerij waar zo'n  2000 mensen tewerkgesteld waren, werd gerund door een zekere Vandecamth of Van de Camp, een Nederlander. Wilfried woonde eerst in Astoria Street te Sylmar, California en vervolgens in de Woodman Ave te Arlata, California. Hij maakte twee aardbevingen mee in deze streek waardoor zijn woning eel wat schade opliep. Tal van Familieleden uit Belgie verbleven bij hem en hij kwam ook een aantal keren terug naar Belgie. Wilfried Vandevyvere maakte deel uit van een gezin van negen en had dus nog 5 zussen en 3 broers in ons land. Hij was de enige die de grote plas overstak.

IN MEMORIAM - Msgr. Ferdinand J. DeCneudt, 94, was born in Ghent Belgium, and attended Sacred Heart Seminary, Detroit, and Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Norwood, Ohio.  He was ordained June 3, 1939, and celebrated his first Mass at St. Margaret Mary Parish, Detroit, in the summer of 1939.  Fr. DeCneudt served as assistant pastor at St. Elizabeth Parish, Wyandotte (1939-42); Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Detroit (1942-48); St. Joan of Arc Parish, St. Clair Shores (1948-52); St. Edward Parish, Detroit, (1952-53); and Our Lady of Victory Parish, Detroit (1953-58).  He was named pastor of Madonna and St. Paul (Maltese) parishes, Detroit, in 1958, and then become pastor of Our Lady Queen of All Saints Parish in Fraser (1964-82)/ He was named a monsignor in 1965, and was granted senior priest status in 1982.

IN MEMORIAM JOSEPH and MARY DUDAL (Nee MEESSEMAN) of Scottsdale, Arizona, formerly of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully.  Mr. Dudal, 82, was born March 22, 1925, in Detroit, and died June 29, 2007.  Mrs. Dudal, 77, was born March 7, 1930, in Detroit, and died June 18, 2007.  The couple were married for 57 years. Mr. Dudal retired from the Water Department for the City of St. Clair Shores. He served in the U.S. Army - Air Force as a PFC 485th bomb squadron munitions worker during the air offensive in Japan.  He was honored with a Victory Medal and two Bronze Stars for his service in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre.  He was a proud member of American Legion and VFW Bruce Post 1146, and also was a member of the Belgian-American Association.  Mrs. Dudal owned a tour company called Bingo Lovers. She was a member of the Women's Century Club.  The are survived by their children, Christine (Norm) Rhoades, Karen (Pete) Piccinato and Cindy (Steve) Grider; 6 grandchildren; siblings, Joanne Daniels, and Raymond (Sharon) Meesseman. They were predeceased by sister Alice Van Zaelen.  A memorial service was held at the Arthur J. Van Lerberghe Funeral Home.  Memorials to the family or the donor's choice of charity.

Memorials may be made to the Ex-Servicemen's Club, Moline.  Bob was born May 7, 1923, in Moline. He married Geraldine Guske on Jan. 31, 1948, in Moline. She preceded him in death on Jan. 7 2006. Bob was a Navy veteran serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a clinical lab supervisor, microbiologist and health officer at the former East Moline Mental Health Center.  Survivors include daughters, Lynne (Dave) Rumler, Dawn Vande Moortel (Steve Morenz); sons, Craig, Mark, and Jon; 6 grandchilden; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Maurine Schweitzer; brother, Joseph (Marilyn) Vande Moortel.
