L. Rardin BRAZIL -- Albert L. Rardin, 83, of Brazil died at 7:37 p.m. Thursday,
July 29, 1999, in Clay County Hospital. He retired as a U.S. Postal Service
supervisor after 37 years of service. He was bom Jan. 28, 1916, in Brazil to
Harvey C. Rardin and Garr Turner Rardin. Survivors include his wife, Alice
Rardin; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Ron Garritson of Indianapolis;
one son, Richard Rardin of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Angie Ott, Brant
Rardin and Eric Garritson; and three great- grandchildren, Tailor Rardin, Caleb
Garritson and Tamer Rardin. He was preceded in death by his parents. He
graduated from Brazil High School in 1934, where he served as president of the
National Honor Society. He was a member of Brazil Elks Lodge since 1938,
serving on the audit committee for a number of years and for a short time as
the club manager. He served on several civic organizations, including Clay
County Tuberculosis Association, Brazil Plaming and Zoning Commission, Brazil
Redevelopment Commission, Brazil Municipal Golf Course Board, Clay Civic
Memorial Foundation, Clay County Community Foundation and the Clay County Parks
Association. Following his retirement, he worked at the Western Auto Store for
five years. Mass of Christian Burial is I I a.m. Monday in Annunciation Church,
with the Revs. Anthony Spicuzza, Gary Scroggins and a nephew, Pat Doyle
officiating. Burial will follow in Clearview Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8
p.m. Sunday,, with Elks Lodge memorial services at 7 p.m. If friends so
desire,, memorial contributions may be made to the Clay Civic Memorial
Foundation or to the charity of their choice.
Alice C. Rardin,
84, of Brazil died at 4:20 p.m Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2 003, at Cloverleaf
Health Care of Knightsville where she had been a resident for a short time. Born
in Brazil on Dec. 7,191 8, she was the daughter of the late Rance and Rose Durkin Doyle. She graduated
from Brazil High School. On Sept. 2, 1939, she married Albert L. Rardin who
preceded her in death on July 29,1999. She was employed until her retirement by
Clay County, working in both Trustee and Assessor's offices. She was a member
of Annunciation Catholic Church, Brazil Elks Lodge and a former member of Tri
Kappa. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a
sister Rosemary Thompson and three brothers, Bernard , John and George Doyle.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Judith Ann and Ronald Garritson of
Indianapolis; a son, Richard Rardin of Indianapolis; a granddaughter, Angie
Garritson of Elkhart; two grandsons, Brant Rardin of Terre Haute and Eric
Garritson of Lafayette; two great- granddaughters, Tailor Rardin of Terre
Haute, and Katelyn Garritson of Lafayette; two great-grandsons, Caleb Garritson
of Lafayette and Tanner Rardin of Terre Haute; a sister, Anna Kathrine Dalton
of Brazil and several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be
conducted Saturday at I I a.m. at Annunciation Church with Father Pat Doyle
officiating. Burial will follow in Clearview Cemetery . Friends may call at
Moore Funeral Home on Friday 4-8 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
Friday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Annunciation
Church or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Information and
envelopes will be available at the funeral home
