Chapter NewsCongratulations to our chapter member, selected as the new INSSAR State President, Dr. T. Rex Legler II. Please visit our State (INSSAR) website: www.inssar.org for a complete list of the new state leadership. We salute you! The INSSAR State Meeting in Muncie was held on Saturday, July 16, 2005. At the meeting, INSSAR Color Guard participants from Ohio Valley Chapter were: J.D. Strouth, Wil Teague, Bob Hall, Ed Hitchcock, and John West. Demonstrating colonial period clothing was: John and Becky West, Bob and Ruth Hall, J.D. Strouth, and Wil Teague. At the meeting, the INSSAR Color Guard, (including John West, Bob Hall, and Ed Hitchcock) presented the Colors for a special ceremony to salute this year's deceased Compatriots, led by J.D. Strouth while Wil participated in a musket firing salute. Bob Hall & John West received Bronze Color Guard medals for 3 years of participation in the INSSAR Color Guard. Our congratulations to Bob and John for these awards! Here are some of the recent parades in which chapter members have participated: Newburgh Summer Fest Parade on 11 Jun 2005 with Don Counts, John West, Becky West & Ruth Hall; also on 11 Jun 2005 Haubstadt Sesquicentennial Parade with Don Counts, John West, Becky West, Wil Teague, Rex Legler and Ed Hitchcock. The Evansville Freedom Festival Parade on 26 Jun 2005Participants in the parade representing our chapter were Wil Teague, Bob & Ruth Hall, John & Becky West, J.D. Strouth, Rex Legler, & Ed Hitchcock. Three flag carriers & two muskets. We were awarded a very attractive participation plaque. Compatriot Strouth was quoted in two small paragraphs in that Sunday's paper (that mentioned the SAR). Chapter to Meet August 6thThe Ohio Valley Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, will meet this Saturday, August 6th, at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in the second floor meeting room of Willard Library, corner of Division and First Avenue in Evansville. Everyone should bring their calendar to this meeting so we can schedule our winter meeting. State President T. Rex Legler will present a program titled: The Pennsylvania/Kentucky Rifle. We are fortunate that he has included us on his list of venues for this program. Visitors are welcome! Lunch to follow Saturday's meeting at Grandy's, corner of First and Diamond avenues, for those interested. Chapter Officers for 2005
