KENDALLVILLE — Lois P. Albright, 77,
died Thursday, Oct, 31, 2002, at 9:40 a.m. at her home in Kendallville.
Mrs. Albright owned and operated Albright’s Grocery Store
in Corunna for 48 years. When she co-founded the grocery in 1954, she was
one of only a few pioneer businesswomen in DeKalb County.
She loved her Corunna community, where she was very active
physically and philanthropically.
She was a graduate of the Indiana University Medical
Center as a registered nurse. Over the years, she worked at Logansport Hospital,
Riley Hospital for Children, McCray Hospital in Kendallville and Sacred Heart
Hospital in Garrett. She also worked as a private nurse.
She was born in Corunna to Earl and Ada (Weihmuller)
Farrington.
She married Jack E. Albright on Dec. 28, 1946, in Corunna.
He died Jan. 2, 1989.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David and
Sue Albright of Corunna and Fritz and Sally Albright of Angola; two daughters
and sons-in-law, Kay and Jeff Brennan of Kendallville and Suzanne and Reggie
Stafford of Story Lake; a brother, Thomas Farrington of Granite City, Ill.;
10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A brother, Charles Farrington, and a sister, Joan Beadell,
preceded her in death.
Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in Feller Funeral
Home, 875 S. Wayne St., Waterloo. The Rev. Lee Bracey will officiate. Burial
will be in Corunna Cemetery.
Calling is Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are to the Corunna Fire Department or the Corunna
Athletic Association.
