WATERLOO — Irene Mae (King) Bailey,
94, Waterloo, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Betz Nursing Home, Auburn.
Mrs. Bailey was born May 7, 1908, in her Fairfield Township
home in DeKalb County, to Clarence and Hester (Reinoehl) King. She was a
homemaker and a school teacher, teaching at the one-room school house, grades
kindergarten through eighth at the Kelly School, and also at the Ashley School.
She was a lifelong member of Cedar Lake Church of Christ,
where she taught Sunday School for more than 50 years and was very active
in the Ladies Aid.
She married Franklin Monroe Bailey on Aug. 12, 1939,
in Angola. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1993.
Surviving are a son, Jerry Bailey of Waterloo; three
stepsons, Ray Bailey of Fresno, Calif., James Bailey of Fort Wayne and Carl
Bailey of Bakersfied, Calif.; her stepdaughter and caregiver, Pearl (Carper)
Baumgartner of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Jeff, Jim and Jason Bailey;
16 stepgrandchildren; and many stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Alfred Bailey,
and a brother, Roy King.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Lake
Church of Christ, Waterloo, John Scott officiating. Calling is from 2 to
6 p.m. Sunday at Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo, or one hour prior to the
service at the church.
Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Corunna.
