Mrs. Lucetta A. Bone, daughter of John and Elizabeth Draggoo, was born in
Ashland County, Ohio, Feb. 7, 1827, and died in Auburn, Ind, June 16th 1895.
She was married in 1817 to Isaac Latson. As a result of this union one child
was born, who has not only been a son but a companion and largely a provider
for his mother for many, many years. Her one regret at thought of death was
the leaving of this son to live in loneliness.
In 1857 she moved to Missouri remaining there till 1875 when she returned to
Auburn, where she has since resided. She was married to John Bone in 1862,
Sept. 18, at Hannibal, Mo. And to them was born one son, Ira S. Bone who
survives her. She joined the M.E. church in girlhood and remained a faithful
member until death translated her from the church militant to the church
triumphant. Those long associated with her speak freely of her loyalty and
devotion to her church. One thing deserves special mention. “She never found
fault with her pastor.” She loved the missionary society and from her small
means she managed to save something to put into this treasury.
I have hope for the answer to her prayers in the behalf of some in whom she
was interested for “their works do follow them.” “She was a good, faithful
mother,” are the words of a long acquaintance of here. This is a high
tribute because it means so much to be a true mother, and such she was.
