BUTLER—Guadalupe R. Chew, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at 10:45 a.m. in the Laurels of DeKalb nursing home, Butler. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Chew was born Jan. 19, 1912, in Cotulla, Texas, to Felix and Petronila (Perez) Ramirez. They preceded her in death.
She married Frank Chew Sr., on July 14, 1932, in Cotulla, and he died Oct. 19, 1979.
Surviving her are four sons, Robert of St. Joe, Frank Jr. of Merrilville, John of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jose of Auburn; three daughters, JoAnn Sechler of St. Joe, and Alicia Badger and Teresa Voirol, both of Fort Wayne; a foster son, Santana Salinas of Butler; one brother, Esquil Ramirez of San Antonio, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Three brothers, Feliz Ramirez, Michael Ramirez and Agapito Ramirez, and two sisters, Trine Aviles and Ruperta Garcia, preceded her in death.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in H.E. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, Butler, with Father Charles A. Herman of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Auburn, officiating. Burial will be in the Butler Cemetery.
Calling is today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. A rosary service will be recited tonight at 7:30.
