MRS. DORA DEPEW, 89, DIES IN AUBURN

     Deceased and late Husband, Porter W. DePew, Operated Grocery on East Ninth Street for Many Years.

     Mrs. Dora DePew, 89, a resident of Auburn for 60 years, died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday at her home, 212 South Center Street, Auburn.
     The body was removed to the Gerig funeral home in Auburn for burial preparations and will remain for funeral rites at 3 p.m. Sunday.
     The Rev. Joseph Ferguson of east of Auburn will officiate at the services with burial in Roselawn cemetery near Auburn.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. tonight.
     Mrs. DePew’s death was attributed, to complications following an illness extending over the past six years.  She had been bedfast since October, 1955.
     A native of Jackson township, Mrs. DePew was born June 23, 1866, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs Benjamin (Margaret Scott) Bailey.  She attended grade school at Leo and the Auburn High School and for several years was a teacher in the Jackson Township schools.
     On Jan. 12, 1886, in a ceremony performed in Jackson Township, she was married to Porter W. DePew, Mrs. DePew died Feb. 9, 1953.  The couple operated the grocery on East Ninth Street for many years.
     Mrs. DePew was one of 14 children.  She was the last of her family.  Five brothers, and eight sister preceded her in death.  A son, Walter DePew of Auburn, preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1954.
     Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Clara Lillian Baughman, a grandson, and one foster grandson.
     Mrs. DePew was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran church in Auburn.
