A FORMER COUNTY OFFICIAL IS DEAD
Perry David DePew, 85, Passed away at Home of Son,
Harold DePew of North of Garrett—Services Saturday
Perry David DePew, 85 a former state highway department
employee and a former DeKalb County commissioner for two terms died Wednesday
at 2 p.m. at the home of his son, Harold DePew of 2-1/2 miles north of Garrett.
He had been ill for two months and complications caused his death.
The body was taken to the McKee funeral home in
Garrett where friends may call after 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Final rites
will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. O. B. Noren
of the LaOtto Lutheran church officiating. Burial will follow in Union
Cemetery, northwest of Garrett.
Mr. DePew was born June 27, 1877, in Keyser township,
a son of the late Samuel and Fanny DePew. He lived at 902 West King
Street in Garrett for 14 years before moving to the son’s home a few months
ago. His wife, the former Essie Lawhead, died four years ago.
Surviving besides the son, Harold, are another
son, Ralph DePew of Rt 2 Avilla; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren;
and a sister, Mrs. Martha Cook of Rt 3 Auburn.
