FORMER STAR COLUMNIST FRANCES DOLL, 96, DIES
Auburn—Frances E. Doll, 96, died Thursday,
Dec. 28, 2000, in Riverside, Calif.
She was a longtime resident of Auburn and Fort Wayne
before moving to Riverside last year.
Mrs. Doll wrote a weekly newspaper column, “Spotlight
on Seniors,” for The Evening Star from 1981 until her retirement last June.
She was a native of Grabill and worked as a buyer at
Grand Leader and Stillman’s Department Store in Fort Wayne for 25 years.
She was a member of St Peter’s Lutheran Church in Spencerville
and St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. She was an active volunteer with the American
Red Cross Bloodmobile in DeKalb County and Creative Play School in Auburn.
Surviving are a daughter, Ruthann Maxwell of Riverside,
Calif.; two sisters, Helen Koch of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., and Kathryn Dean
of Brevard, N. C.; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; a son,
Davey; three sisters and two brothers.
Graveside services will be held at a later date. There
will be no calling. Arrangements are being handled by Akes Funeral Home,
Riverside, Calif.
