The Auburn, IN Evening Star August 10, 1974

     Howard Fike, 79, 816 N. VanBuren St., died at 7 a.m. today in DeKalb Memorial Hospital.  He had been ill a short time.
     Mr. Fike was the son of William and Ella (Sowers) Fike.  On Dec. 20, 1921 he married Ruth Christlieb.  She survives.
     He was a retired janitor with the DeSoto School system.
     Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bill Van Dousen, Wawaka, and Mrs. Milton Latta, Auburn; two sons, Glen and Wayne, both of Fort Wayne; one brother, Arthur of Corunna; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Three brothers and one daughter preceeded him in death.
     Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Dilgard and Cline Funeral Home with Rev. Caroll McNutt, pastor of the Indian Village Church of God, officiating.  Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Kendallville.
    Friend may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Sunday.
