Avilla--Lenor S. Hess, 80 Route 2, Huntertown, died at 6:50 a.m. Saturday in the Kendallville Lutheran Home following a two-month illness.

born May 4, 1897, she was the daughter of Mert and Mary (Barnhart) Mead. She married George Hess Feb. 16, 1917. He preceeded her in death on Sept. 20, 1976.

She had resided in the Huntertown area since 1936 and had been in the Lutheran Home for one year. She was a member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church on Coldwater road, Fort Wayne.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Lois Diehm, Kendallville; Mrs. Ruth Heffelsinger, Garrett; Geneive, Carson, Fla; Elieen Stein, Fort Wayne; six sons, Richard and Donald S. Hess, both of Fort Wayne; Howard, Merlyn and George Hess, all of Huntertown ; and Merton Hess, Kendallville; one sister, Agatha Bowman, Ariz.; 46 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the beautiful Savior Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Sigglekow officiating. The deceased will lie in state one hour before the service.

Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Avilla.

Friends may call at the Brazzell Funeral Home in Avilla today from 2 to 9 p.m.
