Knapp
AUBURN—Ivan
L. Knapp, 64, died Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Betz Nursing Home, Auburn.
He worked from 1950 to 1958 in the Garrett roundhouse in the heating and
plumbing department. He then worked 37 years as a forklift driver at
Dana Corp., Auburn. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
He was a member of Auburn VFW post 10849, UAW Local 164, Garrett
Historical Society, American Association of Retired Persons, and the DeKalb
County Genealogical Society.
He was born April 3, 1931, in Fort Wayne to the late Harold D. and Frances
(Thompson) Knapp.
He married Mary Isabelle Kessler on March 24, 1962, and she died May 30, 1986.
He then married Judith M. Long Knupp on June 24, 1989, and she survives.
Surviving are one daughter, Vicky Lyn Knapp of Ashley; two sons, David Alan
and Michael Lee, both of Auburn; one stepson, Terry Houston of Grand Rapids,
Mich.; one stepdaughter, Tracey Richards of Auburn; two brothers, Dale of
Auburn and Norman of Sarasota, Fla.; four sisters, Imogene LaRowe of Waterloo,
Reba Sliger of Corunna, Janet Goen of Fowler, and Myrna Demske of Avilla; two
grandchildren, Amy L. Knapp and Mitchell L. Knapp; and two step-grandchildren,
Zachery and Lincoln Richards.
One brother, Eldon, preceded him in death.
Friends may call Monday from 2-9 p.m. at Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home, with Wayne Michael
officiating. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery, Butler.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Garrett Railroad Museum.
