William Abraham Knepper

Wm. Abraham Knepper was born in Columbiana County, Ohio,
in 1824. He was one of a family of ten children. One brother
still survives him. when a young man he removed to Indiana in August
1853. He settled first at Albion and after a sojourn there he moved
to Wawaka. Seventy-five years ago he moved to Auburn and was a resident
of this place until death. He was in life married four times.
His first marriage was to Susanna Farmwolt. To this union were born
five children and of these three survive him. Second marriage was to
Mary Bitman, and to them one child was born. His third marriage was
to Mary Norte. Four children were born to this union; Three daughters
and one son. All of them are living. His fourth marriage was
to Barbary Bailey. She survives him. He departed this life February
28, 1908, at his residence in South Auburn. He was aged 83 years, 11
months, and 27 days. He was a kind husband, a loving father, obliging
neighbor, and an honest and industrious work man. He has gone the way
whence no travelers return and a host of friends mourn on account of his
departure. Their loss is his eternal gain. Funeral took place
Sunday afternoon from the Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, Rev. S. E. Slater
officiating. Interment in Woodlawn cemetery.
Also in the same paper, "WM. KNEPPER DEAD William
Knepper, aged 83 years died Friday morning at his home on Van Buren street,
of kidney trouble and other complications. He had followed the carpenter's
trade and had resided in Auburn for years. Surviving is his widow and
several children. The funeral will be held Sunday."
