Sept. 2, 1897, The Butler Record, Friday

Mrs. Charlotte Rowley, was born in Lancaster, N. Y., Oct. 31, 1820; died at Auburn, August 26, 1897; aged 75 years, 9 months, 25 days.  She was married to James Latson April 7, 1842, and they lived in Wyoming County, N. Y., until 1854, when they settled in Auburn where they have since resided.  To this union were born nine children, three sons and three daughters, all of who with the husband survive her, and the death of the mother was the first break in the family circle.  The children were all present at the funeral, save one daughter who resides at Quincy, Mich., and who is afflicted with heart failure.  The funeral was held Sunday p.m. in the M. E. church at Auburn, Rev. Brosy officiating.  The deceased had been a member of the church for over half a century and lived and died in the faith of Him who she served.  During the life that passed she knew of the hardships and struggle to rear a large family, but she has gone to her rest and her good deeds will live after her.
