Dies at age of 78
Retired Farmer, a Resident of Near Auburn for Many Years, Passes Away from
Heart Ailment and Complications.
Andrew W. McClellan, 78, a retired
Steuben county farmer and a resident of near Auburn for over 50 years, died
shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday in his home at Steubenville, north of Waterloo.
The body was removed to the Dilgard & Cline funeral
home in Auburn for burial preparations. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
His death resulted from a heart ailment and complications.
He was in poor health for over a year and seriously ill for the past four
days.
Mr McClellan was born near Auburn in November of 1871,
the son of the late Mr. And Mrs. James McClellan. He resided in the Auburn
community until November of 1924 when he moved to Steubenville, For 25 years,
he operated a farm south of Auburn.
His first wife, the former Elizabeth Hanes, died in September
of 1933. He later married Mrs. Ollie Hanes, who survives with two sons. Ira
McClellan of near Pleasant Lake and John McClellan of Steubenville, a foster
daughter, Miss Rose Whysong, at home, and a foster son, Raymond Rowe, at
home; three grandsons; one granddaughter; two foster grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; a brother, William McClellan of near Bluffton, and one
sister, Mrs. Della Hanes of south of Auburn.
