Samuel Osbun, son of Elias and Mary
Ann Osbun, was born on the old Osbun farm in DeKalb County, Indiana, Aug.
5, 1846. He was united in marriage on November 10, 1869 to Mary Ellen Friend,
daughter of Michael and Eliza Friend.
For forty-six years they lived together on a part of the original Osbun farm
until death took Mr. Osbun away on the morning of May 17, 1915, at the age
of 68 years, 9 months and 12 days.
He was the father of two sons, George Franklin and Henry
Troyer, to whom were born six grandchildren, four of whom are living.
Mr. Osbun was the oldest of five children. Two brothers,
Aaron W. and John W. and two sisters, Elizabeth and Louvina still survive
him. His father and mother having preceded him several years ago in death.
About the year 1890 he was converted in the old Grove
Bethel Church, which stood where the new one now stands. He united with the
Methodist church at that place and remained a member until he was transferred
to the church triumphant.
Many relatives and friends are left with saddened hearts
while they mourn the loss of the good neighbor and friend.
The funeral was held at the Grove Bethel church, May 19, Rev. F. F. Thornburg
officiating.
Interment was made in Woodlawn.
