May 17, 1915

Samuel Osbun, son of Elias and Mary Ann Osbun, was born on the old Osbun farm in DeKalb County, Indiana, Aug. 5, 1846. He was united in marriage on November 10, 1869 to Mary Ellen Friend, daughter of Michael and Eliza Friend.
For forty-six years they lived together on a part of the original Osbun farm until death took Mr. Osbun away on the morning of May 17, 1915, at the age of 68 years, 9 months and 12 days.
He was the father of two sons, George Franklin and Henry Troyer, to whom were born six grandchildren, four of whom are living.
Mr. Osbun was the oldest of five children. Two brothers, Aaron W. and John W. and two sisters, Elizabeth and Louvina still survive him. His father and mother having preceded him several years ago in death.
About the year 1890 he was converted in the old Grove Bethel Church, which stood where the new one now stands. He united with the Methodist church at that place and remained a member until he was transferred to the church triumphant.
Many relatives and friends are left with saddened hearts while they mourn the loss of the good neighbor and friend.
The funeral was held at the Grove Bethel church, May 19, Rev. F. F. Thornburg officiating.
     Interment was made in Woodlawn.
