JAMES PEACHY

James Peachy was born June 11, 1823, at Islaham,
Cambridge, England, where he was reared, and at the age of sixteen years
joined the Methodist church, of which he has been a faithful member, ever
serving his master as becomes a devoted christian. He was married Jan.
6, 1846, to Sarah Brown, and after passing six years of married life in England,
embarked in a sailing vessel for America, and arrived in Castle Garden Feb.
27, 1852, after a stormy voyage of sixteen week, having once to endure the
hardships of a shipwreck. He has made but few changes in his place
of residence here, having lived in his present home for the past 33 years,
where he was honored and esteemed as a model citizen and christian by all
who knew him. Unto them were born five children, four of which, together
with his wife, survive his death, which occurred Dec. 24m 1890, at the age
of 67 years, 6 months and 13 days.
