AUBURN RESIDENT DIED AT AGE OF 81
Stroke of Paralysis Fatal to Mrs. Jacob R. Thomas at Home of Daughter in
Angola.
Mrs. Jacob R. Thomas of this city,
who had been living during the winter with her daughter, Mrs. C. R. Oberholtzer
at Angola, passed away Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Thomas died as the result
of a stroke of paralysis. She was stricken two weeks ago and her condition
had been critical since that time. She was 81 years of age.
The deceased, the widow of a Civil War veteran, was well
known in Auburn. She came from the pioneer Park family. A member of the family,
Wesley Park, was the first settler in Auburn, and was one of the incorporators
of the village and was one of the first members of the board of trustees.
Mr. Park gave a lot to every settler who would build a cabin thereon and
Park's addition in the north part of Auburn was named for the family. He
also gave the land upon which the courthouse stands.
The body was brought to the Clark funeral home. Funeral announcements will
be made later.
