FORMER RESIDENT, 79, DIES IN BUTLER
Lewin E. Waggoner, Former Foreman of Auburn Automobile Co., Succumbs after
year's Illness at Rest Home Lewin Edwin Waggoner, age 79, a former foreman
at the old Auburn Automobile Co. and a former resident of Auburn, died at
8 a.m. Wednesday at the Butler Hotel Rest Home in Butler. Mr. Waggoner died
from complications of age. He had been in failing health for the past year
and was confined at the rest home for seven months. The late residence is
at 108 1/2 South Broadway Street, Butler. He had lived in Butler for the
past 17 years and was in business for five years in Butler. The body was
removed to the H. E. Johnson & Son funeral home in Butler and will remain
for final rites at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Dwight McClure, pastor of the
First Evangelical United Brethren church in Butler will officiate with burial
in the Butler cemetery. Mr. Waggoner was born Jan. 18, 1883, at Elyria, Ohio.,
son of the late Mr. & Mrs. George Waggoner. he married Violet Lily Martin
Dec. 25, 1914 in Elyria, Ohio. She preceded him in death in August 1962.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Joyce Meese of Elyria, Mrs. Dorra Engle
of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Jane Harris, also of Fort Wayne; a brother, Verne
Waggoner of Cleveland, Ohio; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A son, Stanley Waggoner, was killed in action in World War II.
