Welcome to the Gibson County, Indiana GenWeb site. Debbie Wesley and Misty Bogle are your new hosts. While neither of us live in southern Indiana, we are both proud to be native Hoosiers. Debbie has been actively researching her family since 1991. All of her grandparents are Hoosier born, with her paternal grandfather’s ancestors entering Gibson County in the early 1800s. Misty too has deep Hoosier roots with Gibson County ties. Please be patient with us as we take a few weeks to get our bearings and do a little "rearranging of the furniture." We look forward over the coming months to add to the wonderful resources contributed by the former county coordinators and other dedicated volunteers. Speaking of volunteers please drop us a line if you would like to help add to this site or have an idea of what you would like to see.
Indiana GenWeb Project
In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Indiana Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Indiana, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. This project became known as INGENWEB PROJECT.
Volunteers are needed who are willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page.
