County, Ohio, and died Unknown. He married (2) LUCY ANN SCOTT (Source: 1870 Census,
Indiana, Grant Co., Liberty Township.) August 18, 1890 in Marion, Grant County,
Indiana (Source: Grant County Marriage Records, Book 9, page 103.), daughter of
JESSE SCOTT and JAMIMA CAIN. She was born May 21, 1855 in Jerome, Indiana (Source:
Marriage license with John Wise.), and died February 04, 1927 in 71 years, 5 months,
13 days (Source: Mahoney Family Bible.).

Moses Horner
Mr. Horner is a farmer in Fairmount, is a native of Preble County, Ohio, born
October 30, 1840, and a son of George and Margaret (Clevenger) Horner, who were
natives of Ohio and Indiana, respectively.
In 1852 the family moved to Grant County, Indiana where the father died in 1874,
the mother having preceded him in 1854.
Moses Horner was raised a farmer, and in youth secured a fair education. Shortly
after the breaking out of hostilities between the north and south, he enlisted in
Company F, 34th Regiment Indiana Volunteer infantry and after serving over four years,
was honorably discharged.
He was a participant in the battles of Champion Hills, Brownsville, siege of Vicksburg,
and many other smaller engagements in which he participated with his regiment.
After the close of the war, he returned to Grant County and has since been engaged
in farming.
May 3, 1868 he was united in marriage with Miss Nancy Winters, who was born in Hamilton
County, Ohio, June 23, 1841, a daughter of Josiah and Sarah (Adams) Winters, by whom
he is the father of five children; Mary R., born January 27, 1869, died March 29, 1881;
Sarah P., born April 25, 1871; Della M., born April 20, 1873; Moses F., born September 2,
1875; Josiah W., born September 24, 1878.
Mr. Horner owns a good farm of 80 acres, is a republican in politics, a highly-esteemed
citizen of the county and a member of the G.A.R.

MRS. HORNER DIES NEAR LAFAYETTE
Lucy Ann Horner, 72, died at the Soldiers Home at Lafayette at 9 o'clock Saturday
morning from pneumonia. She formerly lived with her son, Clifford Mahoney,
314 West First street, this city. She was well known here and had many friends.
The body was brought to the Diggs Mortuary Sunday afternoon.
She is survived by two sons, Clifford, this city, and Fred Mahoney, Fowlerton; one
daughter, Mrs. Hugh Fleenor, this city, and a step-son, Otto Horner, Marine Hospital,
Chicago.
Funeral services will be held at the Diggs Chapel at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
Rev. Frank K. Dougherty officiating. Burial will be in the Jefferson cemetery.
my note: Otto was her son, not step-son. Also, there is no record of her at Jefferson
Cemetery; however, she was buried there. and living Fleenor remember visiting her grave
with Grandma Fleenor, and they remember a stone being present, but it is not now found.

Mrs. Lucy Horner has gone to house keeping again, and is making her home at 415 West
Twenty-sixth street. Her daughter, Blanche Horner, who is at Knightstown, will be at
home with her after September, and her son, Elmer Mahoney, who is working in a newspaper
office at Rushville, will join her in a few weeks.

Estella Blanche Fleenor, 85, formerly of 415 W. 26th St. Marion, died at 6 p.m. Sunday
at Marion General Hospital.
Born in Upland, she was a lifetime Grant County resident.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Jesso, Trenton, N.J., Mrs. Virginia
Westphall, Redwood City, Calif., Mrs. John (Willabelle) Ellis, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Lake
and living, all of Marion; three sons, Hugh and living, both of Marion, and living,
Cheyenne, Wyo.: her brother, Clifford Mahoney, Orange, Calif., 32 grandchildren,
and 33 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Owen-Weilert Funeral Home, 2722 S. Washington St.,
Marion.

collision he was in, Estella Blanche Fleenor said no more train jobs.....he also said that
Hugh would have had to relocate with the railroad to work, and Estella did not want to as
the house she lived in was hers.
Hugh survived a head-on collision between a freight train and passenger train on the Lake

HUGH FLEENOR
Funeral rites for Hugh Fleenor, 415 W. 26th St., retired factory employee, have been
scheduled for -:30 a.m. Saturday at 911 S. Washington St. He died Tuesday at his home.
Relatives said he suffered a heart attack two weeks ago. Burial will be in Grant Memorial
Park. Friends may call at the S. Washington Street address after noon Thursday.
Native of Washington County, Mr. Fleenor had lived in Marion for 45 years. He formerly
worked at the Anaconda Wire and Cable.
Surviving are the widow, Estella; the daughters, Mrs. Ruth Jesso, Trenton, N.J.; Mrs.
Willa Belle Kindler, Marion; Mrs. Virginia Westphal, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Shirley
Ann Lake, R. R. 2, Marion, and living, R. R. 1, Jonesboro and three sons, Hugh C., and
living., Marion, and living, Laramie, Wyo.

We thank Cliff Mahoney Marion for sending us a news clipping of the passing of another
good friend.
Hugh Fleenor, 68, 415 W. 26th St., Marion, died Tuesday, July _, two weeks after a heart
attack. The news did not reach us until Saturday, the 27th, so the Alumni Association could
only send the usual card and trust representation to the other exes in Marion.
Hugh and wife, Blanche Horner a graduate of 1907, had been residents of Marion for 45 years
and raised a fine family. He had retired from the Anaconda Wire and Cable plant a year ago.
Surviving besides Blanche are five daughters; Mrs. Ruth Jesso, Trenton, N.J.; Mrs. Willabelle
Kindler, Marion; Mrs. Virginia Westphal, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Shirley Ann Lake, Route 2,
Marion; and living, Route 1, Jonesboro; and three sons, Hugh C. and living. of Marion, and
living of Laramie, Wyoming. Hugh came to the home in 189- and after discharge in 1905, had
worked at the Home until he could get work on the outside. He was a native of Washington
County, Indiana.
The many schoolmates and friends over the U.S. will join in expression of profound sympathy
to the family and hope fore comfort in having had such a good husband and father for so long.
