The Genealogical Society of Marion County was founded 15 years ago, in 1995.
Since then, we have hosted dozens of genealogical speakers. We have published a bi-monthly newsletter, Indy Lineages, and a quarterly journal, Family Quest, since our inception. We have compiled and published research materials on Marion County, including cemetery readings of Pike and Decatur Townships and published our work.
Our Library, in the Crown Hill Waiting Station, has grown steadily to over two thousand publications, mostly through contributions by members and other friends of GSMC.
This website has been part of our communication to you for over a decade and we recognize that "the web" now serves a major role in how you research and gather your genealogical information. We will continue to expand our capabilities.
If you are a visitor, we invite you explore what we offer, in programs, publications, research sources, and more. Then we invite you to join us.
If you are a Member, you are already aware of our value to you and hopefully will be able to volunteer.
Either way, we invite your comments and suggestions to Info@GenealogyIndy.org.
If you have a genealogy web page with ancestors in Marion County, IN send us the address and we will add you to our Links page.
The GSMC Library will be open, with some exceptions, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm the fourth WEDNESDAY and SATURDAY of each month. Parking is FREE.
GSMC would like to thank Rootsweb for hosting our site, and Crown Hill Cemetery for their sponsorship. For additional research, please visit their sites at: www.rootsweb.ancestry.com and www.crownhill.org
