Condition:
This cemetery was restored by Jessica Felix and the Mill Creek adult and
junior Optimists in the summer of 2007. The cemetery is partially fenced
(to the south) but had not been mowed or maintained for many, many years.
There were many fallen trees and thick weeds. On June 16, 2007, the
adult Optimists and other volunteers cleaned out the cemetery in preparation
for stone repair by the Junior Optimists. The cemetery was probed and stones
not appearing on any prior transcriptions were found. On July 21st
and 22nd the gravestones were cleaned, repaired and reset to their original
positions in the cemetery. The ground was leveled and will be seeded
in the fall. The result is a beautifully restored pioneer cemetery.
