For the most part, the authors of this book used newspaper files, church records and actual verbal accounts from Henry Co. citizens of that day,  to compile the information. They do not claim perfection and warn in the preface that errors are always a possibility, even though all care was taken to prevent them.

This book contains an index of biographical sketches which have a great deal of information about individuals and their families. Each chapter also contains Township history, as well as, information on the early churches, schools, business establishments  and other organizations that were in existance prior to and during 1884. Except for Blue River Township, the current transcriptions are of the township histories only.

There was a great deal of information mentioned at the beginning of these chapters about individuals and families who are not listed in the biographical index.
