William Wasson Sr
William Wasson Sr, 59 of Lewisville became Henry CountyÕs fourth traffic victim of 1952 when the car in which he was riding overturn in a ditch 4 1/2 miles south of New Castle on Indiana 103 Sunday morning. Mr. Wasson was killed when he was thrown form the auto.
The driver William Baker of New Castle, was arrested at his home later by state police. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, drunken driving and reckless driving.
According to Sheriff Robert Padgett, Baker, Wasson and Hanes Erickson of RR 4, New Castle were driving south when the car overturned, Erickson and Baker up righted the car and Baker had another car push car into New Castle leaving Wasson and Erickson who was unhurt at the scene.
Baker in City court at New Castle entered a plea of not guilty to the charges. His bond was set at $500 and a grand jury will investigate the fatally.
Mr. Wasson was employee of Chrysler Corporation, having worked there 37 years. He was chief steward of the UAW-CIO Union and a charter member.
Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Paul Ellis of Spiceland, Mrs. William Saunders of Lewisville, Doris, Elsie, Barbara and Jerrilee all at home, three sons William and Robert of New Castle and Larry at home Funeral services were held Wednesday in Lewisville Friends Church. Rev. A.F. Byrne officiated and burial followed in the Lewisville Cemetery.
