County is located in East Central Indiana,
East
of Indianapolis and South of Muncie.
In 1992,
the estimated population was 48,611.

Tree
Legendary
Johnny Appleseed
wandered
the midwest,
carrying
among his appleseeds
a single,
exotic seed...from the
golden raintree.
Looking for
a place
it would flourish and grow,
he planted
it somewhere here
in Henry
County.
Legend has
it that those who
find the
raintree discover the
realization
of all dreams
History
Henry County,
was named in honor of
the Virginia
patriot, Patrick Henry.
It was created
on December 31, 1821 from
the Delaware
New Purchase but was officially
organized
June 1, 1822. The county seat is
New Castle.
Henry County
was also the birthplace of the famous
inventor,
Wilbur Wright, who was born here
April 16,
1867.
