JAMES O. LEE IS DEAD

James O. Lee, age 73, retired employee of the U.S. treasury department which he served for many years as a deputy collector of internal revenue, died Monday night at 11 o'clock at his home, 1109 Webster Avenue., following a heart attack. Mr. Lee had been in ill health for over a year.

A native of Perkinsville, Madison County, Mr. Lee came to New Castle in 1922 taking charge of the revenue office. He served here for the government until 1930 when he was transfered to the Indianapolis office. Subsequently he retired from active duty and with Mrs. Lee returned to New Castle in the fall of 1943 for permanent residence.

Mr. Lee was a member of the Methodist church. He was also a member of the Masonic lodge and was a member of the Lions club at Lapel.

On December 26, 1943 Mr. and Mrs. Lee observed their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Lee were reared in the same community and attended the same school. He was the son of Luther and Ella DeWitt Lee.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Ella Wise Lee; a daughter, Mrs. Verl Cooper of Frankton; a son, Wilbur Lee of New Castle; a brother, Frank Lee of Anderson, and 4 grandchildren, Virginia, James and John Lee of New Castle and Catherine Cooper of Frankton.

The body was removed to the Fox and Macer chapel, where friends may call after 7 o'clock this evening, and on Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock will be removed to the home on Webster Avenue, where the funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. S.H. Turberville will officiate. Burial will be in Southmound cemetery.
