Mrs. Gerald W. Bailey Dies

Was Courier-Times Ad Manager's Mother

Mrs. Faye L. Bailey, the wife of Gerald W. Bailey of northwest of New Castle, died unexpectedly early today in the Henry County hospital. She was 50 years old.

Mrs. Bailey, who was the mother of William Bailey, Courier-Times advertising manager, had been ill with a respiratory ailment for a few days. She was taken to the hospital on Sunday for treatment. Cerebral thrombosis developed last night and death followed in a few hours.

She was born Dec. 5, 1899, in Kokomo, the daughter of the late Edd and Jessie Westcott. With her parents, she moved to New Castle when she was seven years old and had spent virtually her entire lifetime in this community. She and Mr. Bailey were married May 11, 1918. She was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist church of New Castle and of the World War II Mothers club at Sulphur Springs.

Survivors in addition to the husband and the son include a daughter, Eloise, Mrs. William F. Guyer, of Indianapolis; and two grandchildren, Bill and Bruce Bailey.

The body will be taken from the Fox and Macer mortuary to the family residence, Rural Route 5, four miles northwest of New Castle on the Sulphur Springs Road. Friends may call there after 7 o'clock this evening.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. Daylight Saving time in the Wesleyan Methodist church here. Rev. Glenn S. Appleman will conduct the rites. Burial will be in South Methodist cemetery.
