She was born Oct. 2, 1889 in Gage County, Neb., a daughter of David and Sarah Jane Drake Myers. For several years she had taught in Kansas, sometimes in a one-room school. Following the death of her husband, Frank H. Beam, to whom she had been married Aug. 17, 1911, she moved to New Castle in 1936. She was a 50-year member of First Presbyterian Church and had worked at the church when the Rev. Paul Spurgeon was minister.

She also had worked at the Firestone plant during World War II while her sons were in service and for many years had been employed at the Children's Shop on Race Street, first for Dorothy Coffin and later for Frank and Catherine Baughman.

Survivors are three daughters, Helen and Charlotte Beam, both of New Castle and Mrs. James R. (Alice) Keys of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, Flo S. Myers of Oakley, Kan.; two daughters-in-law, Edith Beam of Noblesville and Sylvia Beam of Milwaukee, Wis; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Russell in 1915, Walter in 1986, and Frank in 1983; and a grandson, Mark Beam in 1975.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. David J. Van Dam officiating. Graveside rites will be 2 p.m. Monday in Oakley Cemetery, Oakley, Kan. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Couden-Hostetler Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church.
