Howard Burns, 46, Is Dead

Howard Burns, 46, well-known resident of New Lisbon and a former resident of New Castle, took his own life this morning at the cement block plant he operated in New Lisbon.

Dr. Ralph Dreyer, coroner, who investigated the death, assigned despondency since the death of his mother, Mrs. Emma Burns, a few weeks ago as a contributing factor.

Mr. Burns' body was found about 8 o'clock this morning.

For many years before going to New Lisbon, Mr. Burns had been employed by the Hoosier Manufacturing company here. He was the son of the late William and Emma VanDuyn Burns.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Ethel Burns; two children, Howard Jr. of Muncie, who was associated in the cement block business with his father, and a daughter, Marjorie Burns, at home.

The body will be returned to the home from the Condo and Son funeral home in Wilkinson Wednesday morning.

Services will be conducted Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the residence and burial will be in South Mound cemetery.
