Clipping hand dated 10/29/53 Injuries Suffered In Fall Are Fatal to Mrs. Calland Mrs. Gurthie Calland, 81, 1001 S. 19th St., widow of Roswell Calland, died Thursday evening in the Henry County Hospital following an illness suffered in a fall recently at her home. She was a native of Worthington, Ind., and had resided here since 1909. Mrs. Calland was a member of the Methodist church and the Research club. Surviving are a son, Torrence Calland, a member of the New Castle fire department; a daughter, Mrs. Eva Lee of Peru; four grandchildren, and two brothers, Ivan Johnson, Detroit and Guy Johnson, Toledo. The body is at the Davis, Smith-Couden funeral home where friends may call at any time and where services will be conducted Saturday afternon at 2 o'clock with Rev. J. Thomas Frost officiating. Burial will be in South Mound cemetery.
