Clipping hand dated 5/17/49 Mrs. Luke Carpenter Dies After Illness Mrs. Rose Carpenter, 59, widow of Luke Carpenter, 807 S. 18th St., died at 12:20 this morning at the Henry County hospital following a long illness. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the New Lisbon Christian church and with her husband operated a food market for many years on S. 18th St. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Julia Price and her mother, Mrs. Lillie Sandidge, both of New Castle; and a niece, Mrs. Ernest Barlow of New Lisbon. The body is at the Stanley mortuary where friends may call after 7 o'clock this evening and where services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. Herman Ast officiating. Burial will be in South Mound cemetery.
