Josephus Davis, 64, Morganfield, Ky., a former resident of New Castle, died Saturday at the veterans hospital at Marion, Ill. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic lodge at Wayne county, Ky.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Vera Davis; four sons, Lester, Luther, Robert and William Davis, all of Uniontown, Ky., three daughters, Mrs. Manie Wathen, Mrs. Minnie Tyles, Uniontown and Mrs. Linnie Pyle of Lousiville; four brothers, Porter Davis, New Castle, Robert Davis, Cambridge City, William Davis of Kennard and Roy Davis, New Castle; two sisters, Mrs. Manie Davis, Wilkinson, Mrs. Edith Denney, New Castle, and Mrs. Lillian Rednour, Morganfield, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Davis, New Castle.
The body has been taken from the Davis, Smith-Couden funeral home to the residence of his parents, 1415 S. 24th St., where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the residence. Burial will be on Legion Hill in South Mound Cemetery.
