Spiceland- Robert Orren Dishman, 78, of Spiceland died
unexpectedly Tuesday in Henry County Memorial
Hospital.
A life resident of Henry county, Mr. Dishman attended
school in Bethel, Richsquare and Lewisville. He worked
on area farms and for the state highway department
before retiring from Chrysler Corp. in 1979 after more
than 25 years of service. A World War II Army Veteran,
he served in the South Pacific, Hawaii, Australia, New
Guinea and the Philippines. He earned a Purple Heart
and a Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Dishman was a member of
Lewisville Presbyterian Church. He was born June 9,
1916 in Franklin Township, a son of William and
Elizabeth Agal Dishman.
Survivors include, his wife, the former Lola Reece
whom he married Dec. 18, 1948, two stepdaughters Ruby
Bennett of Michigan and Clara Davis of Ohio, two
stepsons, Wesley Shears of New Castle and Herbert
Shears of Indianapolis a foster son Carol Gene Ware of
Spiceland, 14 stepgrandchildren several
great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren,
three sisters Helen Kendall of Lewisville, Anna Ware
of Spiceland and Isabella Brown of New Castle, a
brother Bill of Lewisville and nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by 5 sisters and six brothers
and a grandchild.
Services are 10:30 am Friday at Marshall Funeral Home
in Lewisville with Revs. Marion Hichman and Gene
Bennett officating. Burial will be in Lewisville
Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted
by American Legion and VFW posts of New Castle,
Friends may call 2-8 pm. Thursday and prior to
services on Friday.
