Harry W. Hendricks, 57, 2003 Lincoln Ave., died Sunday evening at the Henry County Hospital after an illness of three months.
Mr. Hendricks, a barber, was well known in the community and his shop in the 1600 block on Broad St. was a particular center for sports fans.
He and his former associate, Philip White, now Henry Township trustee, both were avid sports enthusiasts.
He was a native of Martinsville and came to New Castle at the age of 12. He graduated from New Castle High School in 1921 and operated Hendricks' Barber Shop here for 39 years.
Mr. Hendricks was a member of the First Christian Church, Kiwanis, F. and A.M. No. 91, Chapter, Council, Commandery, Scottish Rite, Elks Lodge and Westwood Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Lou, and one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Peterson, both of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Main and Sons Funeral Home with burial in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
