The 50th Wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kirk, former residents of New Castle now living in Knightstown, will be observed Sunday, September 14th, with Open House from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at their home, 217 South Washington Street, Knightstown.
Mr. and Mrs. Kirk were married at the First Friends Church in New Castle by Rev. A.J. Weaver, September 17th, 1902. Both are birthright members of the Friends church. Mrs. Kirk is the former Eva M. Grey, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Grey, who resided in Spiceland and Greensboro. Mr. Kirk's parents were Mr. and Mrs. Milton Kirk, of Kennard. The couple made their home in New Castle for thirty five years, moving to a farm they purchased in 1936 northeast of Charlottesville where they lived for eleven years. They have made their home in Knightstown the past three and a half years.
Mr. Kirk, an engineer, started the first steam engine when the Maxwell-Brisco factory, now the Chrysler plant, began operation in 1913. He continued with that organization for 15 years. At the time of his retirement he was chief engineer at the Interstate Public Service Company plant at New Castle.
Mr. and Mrs. Kirk have two children, Mrs. Leland Taylor, Knightstown, and Lowell Kirk, New Castle, and seven grandchildren. They are issuing invitations to their friends and relatives to visit them at their home during Open House Sunday.
