Clipping includes newspaper printed date of June 12, 1951 Mrs. Laughlin, 77, Dies; Rites Set Mrs. Ellen Chamness Laughlin, 77, whose home was on Route 3, New Castle, died Monday in an Indianapolis nursing home following an illness of four years. She was born in North Carolina but had been a resident of this community for 55 years. She was a member of the Baptist church. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Nellie Withers of Peru, Mrs. Esther Thompson of Grosse Point, Mich,; Mrs. Blanch Richardson and Mrs. Catherine Sparks of Los Angeles; five sons, Clay Bavender of near New Castle, William Bavender of Indianapolis, Wilbur and Albert Chamness of Indianapolis and Jack Chamness of Houston, Tex., 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Main & Sons funeral home. Rev. George D. Greer will conduct rites and burial will be in Batson cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
