J.B. Rifner, 58, Dies; Funeral To Be Friday

Jesse B. Rifner, 58, well-known retired merchant of Mt. Summit and a well known orchardist, died Tuesday evening in the Henry County hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Rifner resided on Ind. 3 about three-quarters of a mile south of Mt. Summit.

He operated a store in Mt. Summit for 35 years, retiring six years ago. Mr. Rifner was secretary-treasurer of the Mt. Summit telephone company, a position he held for the last 30 years and was also secretary of the Mt. Summit Christian church and Sunday school.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Alma Rifner; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Williams of Mt. Summit; three grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Rifner of Mt. Summit and Oliver Rifner of New Castle.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Mt. Summit Christian church with Rev. Burton Thurston and Rev. Julian Linkous officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Summit cemetery. The body will be taken from the Main and Sons funeral home to the residence where friends may call after noon Thursday.
