Clipping hand dated 9/12/50 Mrs. J. D. Smith, 77, Dies after Brief Illness Mrs. Idella Smith, 77, of 427 S. 15th St., widow of J.D. Smith, former manager of the Pan-American Bridge Co., died Tuesday night at 8:10 o'clock in the Henry County hospital, where she had been a patient since Sunday. Born near Liberty, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Coffman. She had been a resident of New Castle for nearly 50 years. Mrs. Smith attended the First Methodist church. She was a member of the Woman's club. Surviving are a son, Joseph A. Smith, and two grandsons, Richard M. Smith and David A Smith, of New Castle; a sister, Mrs. G. Mason Casey, and a niece, Miss Elizabeth Casey, both of Dayton, O. Friends may call at the Fox and Macer funeral home after 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the funeral home with Dr. George D. Greer officiating. Burial will be in the Smith family lot in the cemetery at Liberty.
