C.C. Smith, 46, Former Chrysler Employe, Dies

Clarence C. Smith, 46, a former employe of the Chrysler Corporation, died Wednesday evening at his home, 306 Park Ave., following an extended illness.

He had been a resident of New Castle for the past 25 years and formerly played on the Chrysler baseball team. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the air force.

Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. DeWitt C. Smith; a son, James Smith of near Millville; four sisters, Mrs. Venie Harper, Fountain City, Mrs. Lena Harris, Freetown, Mrs. Myrtle Smith an Mrs. Nina Groce, New Castle; two brothers, Milton Smith of Indianapolis and E. Howard Smith, New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.

The body will be taken from the Main and Sons funeral home to the residence where friends may call after Friday noon. Services will be conducted at the residence Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. N. J. Bibbs officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery with the American Legion in charge.
