Clipping hand dated 10/10/52 Ira Smith, Former Resident, is Dead Ira E. Smith, 55, a former resident of New Castle and a brother of Mrs. Mable Modlin, died this morning in Chicago after an extended illness. He was the son of the last Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Smith of this city and for several years was employed with the Hoosier Manufacturing Company in New York. For the past 20 years he has been with the American Locker company in Chicago. Surviving are the widow, the former Peg Russell of this city; two children, Stephen and Carolyn and the sister. Funeral arrangements have not been learned.
