Robert Spillman, Owner of City Bus Lines, is Dead

Robert Spillman, owner of the City Bus Lines, died this morning of a heart attack as he arrived at his place of business. Mr. Spillman, who was 65, resided at 2822 S. 19th St.

A native of Kentucky, Mr. Spillman came to New Castle at the age of 17. In 1916 he joined the Browning Bus Line and was driving a bus when he left for service with the U.S. Navy in World War I. He purchased the bus line in 1957 and changed the name to the City Bus Lines.

He was a member of the Baptist Church and the VFW.

Survivors are the wife, Frances; one daughter, Mrs. Ernest Tidrow of Greenfield; one son, Robert Jr. of New Castle, one step-son, John Sutherland of Columbus; three brothers, Bill of New Castle, Lewis of Bedford, Ky., and Carl of Hanover; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Couden Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be in the funeral home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. R.E. Pavy officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery.
