Ellis Eugene Acton Obituary

Ellis Eugene Acton, 78, North Vernon, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at Jennings Health Care Center.
Mr. Acton was a self-employed truck driver and a veteran of the United States Navy, during World War II. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Seymour, and Grayford Road Church. He enjoyed fishing, gospel quartets and calling square dances.
Born Oct. 9, 1927, in Brownstown, he was a son of Charles and Yvonne Carpenter Acton, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Avis Acton, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Pam Woodall, and six sons, Tony Acton and Tim Acton, Seymour, Thomas Acton, Columbus, Charles Acton, Ellettsville, and Ronald Acton and Richard Acton, both of North Vernon; a sister, Mae Morris, Muncie; and three brothers, Bill and Larry Acton, Columbus, and Jerry Acton, Brownstown; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Acton.
The Rev. Jerry Barnhart will conduct military graveside services at 11 a.m. Friday at Vernon Cemetery.
