Josephine E. (Pollert) Allfeis (1905 - 2010)

Josephine E. Allfeis, 105, formerly from the Wegan area in Jackson County, passed away at 12:24 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown.

Mrs. Allfeis was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan, and was a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Wegan. She was a homemaker and loved her church, her family and farming.

Born Oct. 24, 1905, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of William F. Pollert and Mary Tormoehlen Pollert, both of whom preceded her in death. On Oct. 23, 1938, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she married Edwin H. Allfeis, who preceded her in death April 12, 1956.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth (Don) Spray, Brownstown, and Sheila (Jim) Roberts, Scipio; two grandchildren, Deborah (Tim) Robertson and Angela (Tony) Porter; five great-grandchildren, Natalie (Nick) Clifton, Alyssa Robertson, Shana Robertson, Ross Porter and Ashley Porter; and one great-great-grandson, Elijah Clifton.

She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Gregory Roberts; five brothers, Henry Pollert, Cornelius Pollert, Louis Pollert, Martin Pollert and William Pollert; and three sisters, Dora Dickmeyer, Ada Terkhorn and Elizabeth Hinnefeld.

The Rev. Martin Keller will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wegan. Burial will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wegan.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Zabel Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
