Roy Edison Allman ObituarySeymour Tribune - November 11, 2008
Roy Edison Allman, 94, Seymour, passed away at 1:56 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at The Waters of Seymour.
Mr. Allman was a self-employed carpenter, retiring in 1976. He served in the U.S. Army and was the oldest living World War II veteran in Jackson County. He was an avid hunter for most of his life. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 and American Legion Post 89.
Born Aug. 13, 1914, in Spraytown, he was the son of Edward and Ivy Hendershot Allman, both of whom preceded him in death. On Jan. 31, 1938, in Spraytown, he married Frieda Wright, who survives.
Other survivors include three children, Judy Norris, Russell (Gloria) Allman and Thomas (Karen) Allman; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence W. "Larry" Allman; 13 brothers and sisters; and two great-grandsons.
The Rev. Larry Robbins will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Korean and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
