Thomas M. Allman, 72, Brownstown, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis.
He was a member of Easyville Pentecostal Church and was employed with Kieffer Paper Mill for 33 years, retiring in 1985. He established the Tom Allman and the Country Ramblers band, which performed for 35 years, and was also owner of Tom Allman Racing. He enjoyed racing, fishing, watching NASCAR races and playing music with friends at his house. He was a member of Eagles Lodge 655 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 of Seymour.
Born April 30, 1938, in Jackson County, he was the son of J.C. and Vesta McCory Allman, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 18, 1958, in Seymour, he married Virgie Brock, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Thomas (Stacey) Allman, Brownstown, and Jerry (Shannon) Allman, Seymour; one daughter, Debbie (Tim) Lynch, Seymour; one brother, Maurice "Beech" (Mary) Allman, Brownstown; two sisters, Jean Pogue, Brownstown, and Janet (Chester) Goss, Freetown; eight grandchildren, Amberly (Brandon) Schroeder, Brittaney Lynch, Justin (Angela) Darlage, Brandon (Amanda) Allman, Paige Allman, Chandra Allman, Cody Bearden and Baleigh Allman; and three great-grandchildren, Cole Darlage, Kinsley Schroeder and Kamady Hunnicutt.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin "Bub" Allman and J.C. Allman Jr.
The Rev. Jean Pogue will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc. in Brownstown. Burial will be at Smallwood Cemetery, Brownstown.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
